Sam Sparro "Black & Gold" -- Alternate Versions!

(Getty Images) There's hardly a doubt that openly gay artist Sam Sparro was one of the biggest electro-pop success stories of 2008 -- and now that we've launched our snappy music blog, it's time to get the party started in our Electronic Video category with some alternate footage of his existential smash hit, "Black & Gold".

Before a major label took notice of Sam, he independently produced his own video of "Black & Gold", which is not as slick as the newer and "official" video released by Island Records, but worth watching given the sexy shirtless scenes and more intimate appeal of this version. Is he channeling a bit of Kylie in that hooded blouse?

Here's "Black & Gold" sung live (and flawlessly) when he appeared on Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles.
