"Star of Wonder" iTunes Holiday Single Benefits Homeless Gay & Lesbian Teens
Tommy Boy/Silver Label artist Matt Alber released an acoustic single on iTunes this week entitled Star of Wonder (originally recorded by The Roches) in hopes of keeping the lights on at the Los Angeles Youth Network. 100% of the proceeds benefit the non-profit community organization who provide group homes and emergency shelters to many of the 10,000 homeless teens who currently call the streets of LA home.
Says Alber, "A lot of these kids are gay, lesbian or transgender who flee from abusive homes and schools. They arrive by bus, they hitch-hike, they do whatever they can to get away and land here with nothing. LAYN is more than a band-aid or a hand-out; they provide real homes, one-on-one social workers and even send these kids to college. Most of us have always had a roof over our heads. These kids just want a safe place to start their lives."
I would love to support this charity but not sure about this artist. I went to I tunes and listened to other stuff of his but generally i get a much better representation from the sample. Can someone help me know more and understand this artist? I was expecting something more musical?

Ok....I don't even like that way that looks or may be perceived now that I see it posted. I am an artist so not knocking anyone, just to be clear, so save your hate notes please. I think its the style of music that does not allow me to get in a 15 second snip-it to allow me enough lyrics to get what I think this artist is about. So just trying to get feed back.. if you like this artists please tell me what it is about him. I went because it is for charity and as a kid in that situation I would love to help.

He's a great artist. His song "End of the World" is heartbreaking. His whole new album is streaming on his website (matt alber dot com).

I think it's beautiful.
But then again I'm falling in love.
I love you - my brilliant beautiful creature.

Why not just homeless teens? Way to pick and choose.

Hey Maddison,
You must be a "cup half empty" person, do you even read before you spit out negative comments:
Let's try again! See quote from Matt taken rom the posting above - which btw is on GAY.COM which addresses concerns of the LGBTQ community.

Hello! It's Matt. Thank you to everyone who has purchased Star of Wonder. The homeless teens in Los Angeles still need your help (both the straight and the gay ones.)
Prop 8 is an important battle. But if we ignore the young people who are discarded by their familes, what kind of family are we?
A New Years Resolition to pick up the slack is on my list. 99 cents can go a long way. Please ask your friends to purchase the song. 100% of the proceeds benefit the non-profit LAYN. (www.layn.org)
