Worth a Listen: "Heroes" Benefit CD

ScissorSistersBandShot A lot of benefit albums end up sucking, but Astralwerks Records is about to release a new CD with an extremely eclectic and impressive group of artists and covers.

The CD is called "Heroes," and the proceeds will benefit War Child, an award-winning charity that provides humanitarian assistance to war-affected children in some of the most devastated regions of the world.

The album’s concept mirrors one of the intrinsic aims of War Child’s efforts in war zones around the world to place faith in the next generation.

“On television we are constantly bombarded by all these horrific images, says Rufus Wainwright, one of the featured artists. "It's important to realize that they are real people, real children, and that they need real help and real love."

Paul mccartney gay rumor 2 Sir Paul McCartney is also a staunch supporter.  "I have been supporting War Child since 1995, says McCartney. "Their work with children in war zones saves lives and their work with those who take decisions that help them to do something about it saves even more lives."

The CD drops February 24th, but the Scissor Sisters cover of Roxy Music's "Do the Strand" was just released exclusively to Gay.com.  You can also listen to the album in it's entirety this week on MySpace.
